The United States Secret Service is a premier law enforcement organization that is looking for highly qualified men and women from diverse backgrounds who desire a fast paced, exciting and challenging career.

MAJOR DUTIES:

Special agents are charged with two missions: protection and investigations. During the course of their careers, special agents carry out assignments in both of these areas and may be assigned to multiple duty stations throughout the U.S. and abroad.

PROTECTION:

Special agents are authorized by law to protect the United States President, Vice President, President-elect, Vice President-elect, their immediate families, former Presidents, their spouses and minor children until age 16, visiting foreign heads of states/governments, their accompanying spouses, major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates, their spouses, and others designated by law.

INVESTIGATIONS:

Special agents are also authorized by law to conduct criminal investigations pertaining to the counterfeiting of United States and foreign government obligations and securities; fictitious and fraudulently negotiated government and commercial securities, identity theft, false identification, computer crimes, access device fraud, telecommunications fraud, telemarketing fraud, electronic funds transfer fraud, and fraud concerning federally insured financial institutions.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

Fully describe your duties and accomplishments under the work experience block of your application or on your resume. List only education from an educational institution accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

If substituting education for experience, please provide copies of college transcript.

Applicants must be U.S. Citizens; between the ages of 21 and less than 37 at the time of appointment; and possess visual acuity no worse than 20/60 uncorrected, correctable to 20/20 in each eye. Note: Lasik, ALK, RK and PRK are acceptable corrective eye surgeries for special agent applicants. Applicants will be considered eligible for the special agent position provided specific visual tests are passed 3 months after Lasik surgery and one year after all other surgeries. In addition, applicants must possess a 4-year degree from an accredited college or university; or 3-years of work experience in the criminal investigative or law enforcement fields that require knowledge and application of laws relating to criminal violations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must at least be equivalent to the next lower grade level.

You will be evaluated based upon the score you achieve on the written test required for this position.

You will be evaluated based upon the question responses you provide during a structured interview. In responding to structured interview questions you should be sure to site specific examples of experience, explain exactly what you did, and the outcome.

You will be evaluated on additional phases required of this position during the employment process.
